The
dictionary definition of health is “freedom from disease” implying that if you are free from disease you are healthy.
But I propose a different definition of health: To be healthy one must not only be free from disease, but one feel good physically
and mentally.
General causes of disease
1.
Unhealthy Diet
Hippocrates,
the father of medicine, said "Food is your medicine and your medicine is your food." These days we consume
high amounts of an acid diet which produces an acid environment in the body. Processed packaged foods, dairy products,
processed sugar, soft drinks and alcohol induce an acid state in our body chemistry which is the favorite environment for
virus and bacteria. To remain healthy we need a correct pH balance of between 7.35 and 7.45.
2.
Environmental
Toxicity
Beside air pollution and water pollution, the heavy metals such as mercury,
aluminum and lead are the major cause of degenerative diseases such as lupus, chronic fatigue, and fibromyalgia and rheumatoid
arthritis.
3.
Mental Stress
Everyone
in modern society suffers from various levels of mental stress. Long term stress will destroy the immune system and
will eventually cause cancer. Even common facial paralysis (Bell's palsey) comes from serious mental stress.
4.
Over-using Medication
For purposes of healing, medication has its purpose. If medication is used long
term, however, and essentially to ally the symptoms, and without working on the source(s) of illness, minor to serious side
effects can occur which can damage parts of other organs as well.
5. Radiation from Medical Procedures.
Medical
radiation is a highly important cause and probably the principle cause of cancer modality in the world during the Twentieth
Century. Medical radiation primarily means exposure by x-rays, including fluoroscopy and CT
scan, especially ionizing radiation from x-ray diagnostic imaging, and also nuclear power plants and weapons.
Radiation damages human genes and creates over 50% of the cases of human cancer and 60% of the cases of heart disease in the
world.
6.
Unhealthy Life-style
The
public's addiction to smoking, an unbalanced diet (see #1 above), excessive drinking, the lack of regular exercise, and
negative attitudes provides the conditions that induce illness and disease.
7.
Genetic Disposition
Although
you cannot materially alter your DNA given by your ancestors, there is the possibility of modifying DNA by eliminating all
the causes of human disease mentioned above.
